4-22-2001 6:45 pm/ just got back from a friend's wedding. he's an old drummer for the band. member #6 if i remember correctly. the guy is 36 and this is his 5th time down the aisle. i think he knew the words better than the minister. they were recording the ceremony and everyone was putting a little verbal bit on the recording. i didn't have the heart to tell about when i saw him walking around the club with a tube of KY jelly in one hand and a handful of trojans in the other. that might have been innapropriate for the wedding. so, i ate, drank, shook his hand and gave the bride a hug and left...he's a great guy, just a bit eccentric is all...

4-25-2001 6:00p.m./ well it's startin to get hot, which means that our rehearsal room is gonna turn into a virtual sauna. time for me to start checkin out those beer specials! beer is a vital cog in our finely tuned rock and roll machine. we finally are rested up from a hard show on saturday and it's time to get back into the swing of things...

4-27-2001 2:30 p.m./ well i have come to the grueling decision to have surgery on my back. i have tried to deal with it, but it has gotten to the point where it hurts to go onstage and i can't go onstage and give less than 110% so it is something that just has to be done. i have never had this done before and i am kinda worried about someone slicing into me like filleting a fish, but i guess i'll just have to have faith in modern medicine. it's not particularly something i want to do, but everything else they have tried has not worked and i am not a big fan of being in pain. hopefully i will come back bigger and better than ever, so lets all have a little faith. comes with the territory i guess...

4-28-2001 1:30 p.m./ well it's an unusual saturday with nothing to do. no rehearsal, no show to play, nothing. it's nice to once in a while have a bit of personal downtime, because just like in any family, your brothers and sisters tend to get on your nerves and you need to get away so you don't start slapping them around like stepchildren...just kidding. so on that note it's off to a day of actual peace and quiet. what a relief...

4-29-2001 11:15 a.m./ baseball fever is in the air! one of the club owners for a place we play at kicked us down tickets to a diamondbacks game. you wanna know what happens when you turn a band of pirates loose in a place where there are 20,000 women all in one space and one time? well....maybe that might be better left unsaid so this site doesn't get banned. so anyway, the pirates are singin," take me out to the ball game......" you know what i mean...

5-4-2001 7:00 p.m./well it looks like there might be a little changing of the guard going on so don't be suprised if one of the pages gets a makeover in the near future. musicians are people too and they have problems of their own just like everyone else and sometimes you just gotta do what ya gotta do......

5-13-2001 6:00p.m./ well, even rock musicians have mothers and i am going to cook my mom a feast tonite and got her a card and a bottle of wine. i think she is the best mom in the world and i would do anything she wanted me to. after all, she put up with me for this long through thick and thin and wading through the passed out bodies in my house after an all night after hours bash on more than one occaision. my hat is off to her!!!

5-15-2001 7:45 a.m./ one of the things about being a musician is the fact that you don't keep regular office hours. i woke up in the middle of the night and out of the blue had a song idea and next thing i know it was just about complete. inspiration comes at the funniest times and sometimes the strangest things trigger inspiration. that's one of the things i will never quite be able to explain...

5-27-2001 1:45 a.m./i went and sat in with some blues players tonight. one of them was a guy named chico chism. he jammed with albert, b.b., and freddie king, howlin wolf, muddy waters, john lee hooker, and elmore james. don't quote me on that but i remember reading somewhere that he jammed with all the greats on the chicago blues scene starting in the 1950's i believe. he is a great guy and a happy soul. he fills the room with kharma and a sense of history. i had a blast and was invited to go back and play with him again. i feel kind of honored to have gained respect and friendship of someone i basically pay homage to.

5-29-2001 7:00p.m./well i have come to the conclusion that i gotta do a little spring cleaning and regroup a bit. i started this band almost three years ago and i have been through 37 members and i know that if a part is not working right and doing it's job you gotta replace it. i am to the point that i don't really care if i go through a million members because i have come to the conclusion that my music is my dream and i am not going to let that dream die. i am also not going to let no one drag me down because i have a passion in my heart for my music that no one or nothing can stop. if there are going to be more personnel changes then so be it...

8-26-2001 11:45 am/ well after a little hiatus i am back to adding my little memoirs again. i have been taking a little time to re-hash the band (again) and i still am searching for the right guys to get this menagerie of a band going. it's tough doing a band while being hurt and all, but i'm makin it work as i always do. i've heard of the phrase it's a long way to the top but this is getting to make scaling mount everest look like a piece of cake..hahaha anyway, i will never give up in my quest to get in the big picture and i firmly believe that will happen one day.

3-19-2002 10:30p.m./ well folks, i finally went under the knife last week and got my surgery done and i am slowly starting to feel like a normal walking, talking, human being again. it has been a rough 17 months dealing with a bad back and dealing with the rigors of being a rock musician. i am eagerly looking forward to next weekends show. it has been so long since i have gone onstage without being in pain i have almost forgotten what it feels like. i am chomping at the bit and i will also start keeping this site up more now that i'm not hurting. boy what a relief!!!

7-13-2002 6:30pm/ well folks it is a long and tedious process, but, things are starting to come together. it has taken a bit of time to learn about recording on a computer being i am from the old 'roll the tape' school of recording. there are 3 songs done so far, and, even though the recording quality is not perfect, it is mmmore then adequate to keep on file and remake them when i learn enough about this way of recording to effectively use all the tools given to me. so far feedback on what has been recorded has been favorable as far as i can tell. anyway....back to the grind!!!

8-16-2002 11:00pm/ well the creative juices are sort of maxed out right now, and, although i have almost 200 songs i have written in the past, i want to include all new and fresh material on the album...for those who are familiar with writing music or any form of art, you know that you cannot just force creativity to happen, thus, i will be taking a couple of weeks to get mentally rested so i can get back into the swing of things...no worry though because it will, in fact, happen because i have been doing this too long to stop now and i have put so many hours into this project i cannot imagine not doing it...

9-14-2002 9:30am/ unbelievable....one of my key pieces of gear, my effects unit decides to take a dive on me. the cost to replace the part is like 30 dollars less then replacing the whole unit! talk about bad timing...i am broke...i can't believe it...oh well i guess i gotta make it happen anyway...i will keep you informed....asta la pasta

9-29-2002 8:30pm/ well...finally i am back up and running with the recording (thank God) and trying to get things done. one of the things that makes doing so very difficult is the fact that i don't have a money tree growing in my yard. anyway, i gotta get back on it as my new equipment that i replaced the broken stuff with sounds really good, although i could not really afford it, but it was very necessary for me and basically my sanity....

10-15-2002 10:30pm/ well well well...i finally got some music for whoever visits this place for you to enjoy. i put a good amount of work into it and i don't think johnny cash would object if he heard it. of course it will get better as i become more experienced at recording on a computer. there are going to be some really good songs coming out of me in the near future and i think you folks might want to keep checking in because if you don't you will be missing the boat to hear some really good stuff....

10-18-2002 1:00am/ well i have been hearing that from all the folks trying to listen to the music that is now on the site that it is getting shut down for 2 hours every time it exceeds bandwidth, so, i guess i will just have to see about getting more because there are some more songs i want to get heard. a lot more...i'll keep you folks posted..

10-31-2002 7:00 p.m./ HAPPY HALLOWEEN! and...HAPPY BIRTHDAY to this menagerie I call a rock and roll band! I can't believe I am keeping this thing going, but, miraculously, I am. I guess I am a glutton for punishment of sorts. 48 months and I have gone through 47 members...amazing...phew....anyway... 5500 hits to the website later it is still going on and I want to personally thank each and every one who has visited here and enjoyed what there is to offer and I am glad everyone likes the music I was finally able to get on here...so far there have been about 600 downloads of the songs...my gift to you...my friends...thank you so much...steven

11-30-2002 9p.m./ Well folks it has been a while but I have been busy doing this, that and the other. The site has taken close to 1000 hits since I put the music on there and I definately appreciate it. I am close to running out of file space for this site, so I am going to be posting more music on mp3.com. It will be listed under my name. (Steven Maxwell) So on that note, you will be able to find more of my music there. I am going to be posting some tributes to some of mym favorite classic artists much in the same vein as 'folsom prison blooze' was done. Feedback so far has been very positive so I think you all will enjoy it.
